Memory Support aids Alzheimer’s care

As a person's brain is affected by Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, it becomes more difficult to accomplish simple tasks such as brushing teeth or tying shoes.  When caring for someone with dementia, people may struggle with deciding whether to take the toothbrush and do the task for them or give them step-by-step instructions.

New center will focus on Alzheimer's care

A new concept in assisted living for people with Alzheimer's disease is under construction in Tulsa, and the facility's developers say it will be the first of many built across the country.

Cypress Springs, a 66-bed, 30,000-square-foot, $8.5 million facility going up at 7210 S. Yale Ave. for a late September opening, is a departure for Dallas-based developers Philip Brosseau and Randy Box. They previously built four-star hotels.

Cypress Springs ALZ, LLC will open its first memory care center this September in Tulsa, followed next year by an identical facility in Oklahoma City.

These 30,000-square-foot complexes launch a long-term regional expansion plan by the new Dallas firm, said Cypress Springs partner and hospitality industry veteran Phil Brosseau.
